The first thing that popped up on my feed when I typed Cambodia was, Angkor Wat. The following few attractions too were around Angkor Wat and about its significance in Cambodian heritage. Okay, so I visited Angkor Wat as soon as I landed, now what next? That’s when I scrolled down only to find something interesting. Top beaches in Cambodia. I found out that in recent years people have eyed the pristine beaches, so I thought to myself, this is it. I was surprised to see how Cambodia spoils beach lovers and sunseekers for options, with untouched beaches with white powder-like sand, glassy waters and naturally grown palm trees swaying with the tropical wind. 

Long Beach is Koh Rong’s most sought after attraction and a traveler’s dreamy escape. This empty stretch of sand which spans to nearly 7km is of nothing but soft sand that almost feels like a bed of baby powder. If this beach strip looks familiar to you then don’t be surprised, because it featured on the American television series “Survivor”. Usually motorcycle taxis are a best option to explore these stretches, or you can just board a longtail boat to enjoy a sunset.

Ideal for families and children, this area feels like you’ve booked yourself a private beach. Away from all the bustles of the city, it’s perfectly tucked inside the secluded southwest coast of Koh Rong Sanloem. The restaurants here have lovely board games and books stacked here which makes it suitable for families who’d like some quiet time. The shoreline accommodations have balconies with a sea view so waking up to the sounds of waves crashing is purely a blessing. Lazy Beach is known for its breathtaking sunsets which is truly unmissable. If you’d like to do more here, then kayaking, snorkeling and even scuba diving will keep you entertained.

Sihanoukville is often known as Stuckville or Sinville by travelers, which is a backpacker’s haven. Easily accessible from Sihanoukville this blessed strip of beach is all about endless sandy shores and moist jungles – the definition of a tropical paradise. The island’s crescent shape, beautifully curves inwards the shoreline, hoarding the covered part of the island’s beach. As the island had only a few roads I had two options, walking or boating, and I’d pick walking any day. Walking barefoot was more than therapeutic for me on the soft sand; I didn’t mind getting my toes in them! You’ll find beach-shack bars and seafood restaurants at a stretch here and the beach is undergoing a development project so we can expect more in the future.

The 78 square km stretch of paradise is less known by name but is slightly populated where you’ll find rainforest mountains in the backdrop facing the beautiful beach in the front. This untouched shoreline has boutique hotels and beach resorts. One hour away from the mainland this island is secluded yet offers convenience. You can simply relax on the soft sandbank, boat towards the snorkeling spots, go fishing on a boat charter, diving, kayaking or enjoy horse riding!

Situated in the Sihanoukville which is also known as Stuckville or Sinville by travelers, this beach has so much to offer. With its 4km coastline, this popular beach is a fun hub for travelers who like holidaying in Cambodia. Hidden from the eyes of the people this place has amazing cafes, seafood options, seaside bungalows and extensive watersports options. The water here is known to be clear and calm, that you’d not regret swimming here all day. You can even spot local wildlife around here from the mangrove forests

Close to the tip of southwest, near Daem Thkov village the Coconut Beach is a secluded area from the rest and is at its most pristine form, where even marine life thrives. There are guesthouses and beach resorts that offer watersports activities and have great restaurants for dining. This beach is deal for kayaking, deep-sea diving, scuba diving and snorkeling. You can charter a boat from here to explore the peaceful nearby villages or just swim by the beach.   

If you’re looking for a getaway to cut off from the rest of the world or enjoy some digital detoxing, then look no further this is your spot! People believe this to be the best strip of beach area, because this beach remains secluded and has managed to retain its originality from all the advancements. This is a backpacker’s haven, and you’ll find a lot of budget friendly lodgings. The abundant marine biodiversity makes it an ideal spot for snorkeling, and spot schools of fish, colourful coral, turtles and even reef sharks if you’re lucky!

Travelers who are looking for a peaceful time away from the overly crowded beaches but still want to enjoy beachy vibes with a touch of privacy, you’ve made your right stop. Pagoda Beach is situated in the Gulf of Thailand and is just 1.7 km away from the Daeum Tkov village. The sand here stretches to a 1000m, and the waves are gentle, ideal for swimming with family. Turquoise waters of these beach have garnered attention lately and it’s also known for its water activities like kayaking. Though the beach doesn’t have dining options, you’ll still be able to find some beach bars. Strolling along the shoreline, swimming and beachcombing are some of the other things you can do here!

Palm Beach is a haven for travelers who love beach vibes and would like a lively experience with engaging activities to do in Koh Rong. This strip offers extensive restaurants, bungalows and resorts with great amenities. There are so many things to do in beach, like diving, cycling, snorkeling, hiking, fishing and kayaking keeps travelers entertained. Don’t be surprised if you’re stuck to this place, because I’ve seen travelers extend their stay for a month or more!

Also known as the 4K Beach, is one of the best beaches in Koh Rong and there’s no questioning that. Its long surreal shoreline earned it its name. Just a 30 min walk away from Koh Toch, where ferries arrive and depart gives you the opportunity to have options to check out nearby places. As the sun sets, this place turns into a party hub that I doubt will allow you to sleep. You will also find some decent stays here too if you’re not too worried about the budget. Stay between Long Set and Koh Toch to be able to balance the fun out. Famous for its bioluminescence action after the sun sets, you can charter a boat to enjoy a plankton swim!
